MTB-Ron-1 (Motor Torpedo Boat Squadron #1) began when Captain Matthew Reddy ordered 12 PTs (numbers 4-16) sent to Baalkpan to have torpedo tubes installed in Storm Surge. They were aboard USS Respite Island and unloaded for maneuver training at Diego Garcia or Laa-Laanti. Winston Winny Rominger the PT creator commanded and trained the force.

In Deadly Shores Lt. Cmdr. Irwin Laumer and Ensign Nathaniel Hardee joined the squadron. All but seven boats were lost when Respite Island was torpedoed, along with Winny Rominger. Laumer commands the squadron and also commands PT-7 with Ensign Hardee as his XO. The PTs along with USS Walker torpedo Grik Battleships and Cruisers in the opening phase of the First Battle of Grik City. Laumer brings reinforsements to the beached Walker and transports the party to kill or capture the Celestial Mother. Leaving Ensign Hardee in command of PT-7 Laumer joined the party taking command, but was killed in the throne room.

In Straits of Hell the squadron consisted of five boats, PT-4, PT-7, PT-13, PT-15, and PT-16. PT-7 under Ensign Hardee is assigned to transport the mission to contact the native Madagascar Lemurians under the command of Chack-Sab-At. While PT-7 was tied up to a fallen Galla tree in the Mangoro River riding out a storm, Sergeant McGinnis' mutalated corpse was found displayed on shore.
