"Hi Charlie. I've been very impressed and pleased by all the work you've done on the Buzzard and the Clippers--but the more you did, the more guilty I felt that you were spending so much effort on something SO CLOSE, but not quite right. I tried to hint you into it, but even with the pics you sent me, I couldn't quite morph them together--and there is a fair amount of description in the upcoming book. Soooo . . . . here are the "official", as described, images of the various aircraft. I originally did them in black and white, for inclusion in the books, but spent the weekend colorizing them. Feel free to post them as "official", and even collaborations if you like, since you are free to scale them and do whatever else you like. Note the continuation of the design philosophy originally incorporated in the Nancys, and drawn heavily, still, on the PBY Catalina influence. In addition, I'm tossing you a preview of the new "D" Model that will be briefly alluded to in "Straits." The D model uses the same airframe as the B, but stacks the radials, returns to the fixed wingfloats, and boasts hardpoints under the wings. There is also some defensive armament. Man, I'm sorry, but I hope you enjoy these. You sure have a way of sucking info out of me! Ha! I might even let you keep doing it, because it's fun, but maybe we can coordinate it better in the future. Oh, I've got a good original Grik Dreadnaught drawing I'll shoot you as well.

Take care!

Taylor"

and "Hi Charlie. This is the rough "Paint" sketch of a Grik dreadnaught that I sent to the art department when they were working on the cover art for "Iron Gray Sea," complete with explanatory notes. They did a great job translating it, and it's kind of nice how carefully they respected the concept."
